Readers can report any error in Korean text, audio, romanization or links, and every confirmed fix is dated on the page and listed in the corrections log below. This page explains what to send, how a report is checked and how a fix is shown. The log is empty so far, because no correction has been confirmed.
How Do I Report an Error?
To report an error, email the page address and a description of the mistake to contact@learn-korean-hangul.com. No account is needed. The contact page has the same address.
- Open the page that contains the error and copy its address.
- Copy the exact text as shown, in Hangul if the error is Korean, or the sentence if the error is in English.
- Write what you believe is correct, and why in one line.
- Add a source if you have one, such as a dictionary entry or a rule from the National Institute of Korean Language.
- Send it. Add a reply address only if you want an answer.
A report with the address and the exact text is the easiest kind to check. A report that says "the audio is wrong" with no page or word cannot be found, so it waits for more detail.
Next, the checklist shows what makes a report useful.
What Should a Report Include?
A report is easiest to check when it carries four things:
- The page address. It identifies the lesson and the version you saw.
- The Korean as shown. Copy it, since similar letters such as ㅐ and ㅔ are easy to confuse by hand.
- The form you think is right. Even a rough suggestion helps.
- A source, if you have one. The Standard Korean Language Dictionary (표준국어대사전) at stdict.korean.go.kr is the most useful.
For an audio problem, add the word and what you heard, for example "the clip for 같이 sounds like gati, not gachi". The next section sorts reports by type.
Types of Errors We Fix
Reports are sorted into six types so that each reaches the right check. The table gives an example of each.
| Type | Example | Checked against |
|---|---|---|
| Spelling (맞춤법) | 됬어요 written instead of 됐어요 | Hangul orthography |
| Pronunciation or audio | A clip reads 같이 as spelled, not [가치] | Standard Pronunciation rules |
| Romanization | 신라 written Sinra instead of Silla | Revised Romanization |
| Translation or meaning | An English gloss that is too loose | Standard Korean Language Dictionary |
| Cultural note | A claim about when a phrase is used | A named source |
| Broken link | A link that leads nowhere | Link check |
Each type is judged against the standards listed on the language standards page, so a correction can be traced to a rule rather than to an opinion. Next comes how a report is checked.
How Corrections Are Checked
A report is checked in three steps. The report is read and the page is found. The claimed error is compared with the relevant standard or dictionary entry. If the report is confirmed, the page is fixed, and it is re-checked at the stage that would have caught the error, as the editorial policy describes.
Audio errors are traced through the pipeline in the audio methodology: the display text, the pronunciation input, the voice and the settings. The fix may be a respelled input, a different voice or a human recording.
A corrected Korean form goes back to Min-ji Park, the site's Korean reviewer, before the fixed page is published, because the fix changes Korean that she approved. A reader's report alone never changes a page's review status, however convincing it is.
What If Standard and Everyday Korean Differ?
When the standard and common use disagree, the page shows both forms and labels each one. It does not silently switch from one to the other. For example, most Seoul speakers pronounce the vowels ㅐ and ㅔ the same, but the standard spells them differently. The lesson keeps the standard spelling and adds a note about the common pronunciation. A report on such a case is judged against the standards we follow, and the usual outcome is a clearer label, not a changed form.
Next, fixed pages show what changed.
How Fixed Pages Show Changes
A fixed page carries a short, dated correction note near the end. The note has three parts: the date, what changed, and whether the audio was regenerated. The block below shows the format. It is an example of the format, not a real correction.
Correction note (format example). Date: the day the fix was published. Change: the example 됬어요 was replaced with 됐어요. Audio regenerated: yes.
The page's "Last updated" date changes with a correction, because a correction is a substantive edit. Typo fixes that change no meaning are batched and listed together in the log.
Corrections Log
The log lists every confirmed correction, newest first, so you can check any fix. It is empty because the site has not yet confirmed a correction.
| Date | Page | Change type | What changed | Audio regenerated |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| None yet | None yet | None yet | No corrections have been logged | Not applicable |
The log does not name the people who report errors. Return to About Learn Korean Hangul for the other trust pages, or send a correction now.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account to report an error? No. The site has no accounts and needs none for a report. You only need to send the page address and a description of the problem. Include a way to reply only if you want an answer. The report is used to check and fix the page, as the privacy policy explains.
Will you reply to every report? No reply time is promised yet, because the site has not set a service level. Every report is meant to be read and checked, and confirmed fixes are dated on the page and listed in the log. If you want an answer, include a reply address and say so.
Can I suggest a better example sentence? Yes. Send the page address, the sentence you suggest, its meaning and why it is better, such as more natural or more common. A suggestion is checked against the language standards and the lesson's level. Accepting it counts as a correction, but it does not make the sender a reviewer.
Are corrections made to the Spanish pages too? The Spanish version is live. A correction to the Korean on an English page applies to the matching Spanish page, and errors in the Spanish explanation are handled in the same way, with the same dated note and log.
