Choose A4 or US Letter on the card. Print the three exercise pages together and the key page separately. The PDF is available in A4 and US Letter from the download card. For practice, this page describes every item, so you can sketch a map of your own town and label it with the same words.

What Is on Each Page?

Page 1 is about nouns, page 2 is about nouns with the verbs that go with them, and page 3 is about whole sentences you might say at a hotel desk or an airport counter.

Page 1: Label the Town Map

Page 1 is a small town map with ten numbered buildings along two streets. A word bank at the top lists the ten Korean names. You write the right name in each numbered box by reading the small clue next to the building. The first two boxes are dotted models to trace.

Place RR Meaning
은행 eunhaeng bank
병원 byeongwon hospital
약국 yakguk pharmacy
우체국 ucheguk post office
편의점 pyeonuijeom convenience store
도서관 doseogwan library
공원 gongwon park
시장 sijang market
카페 kape cafe
학교 hakgyo school

Many place names end in a word that hints at the kind of place: 국 (a bureau or office, as in 우체국 and 약국), 관 (a hall, as in 도서관) and 점 (a shop, as in 편의점). 우체국 is a post office, 약국 is a pharmacy, and 편의점 is a convenience store. Spot the ending and you can guess new words. The city places lesson and the shops and buildings lesson go further.

Page 2: Transport Words and Verbs

Page 2 has two parts. Part A lists eight vehicles for you to match with English. Part B gives six sentences with a blank for the verb, and you choose from 타요, 내려요 and 갈아타요.

Vehicle RR Meaning
버스 beoseu bus
지하철 jihacheol subway
택시 taeksi taxi
기차 gicha train
비행기 bihaenggi airplane
자전거 jajeongeo bicycle
배 bae ship; boat
자동차 jadongcha car

The verb 타다 (to ride, to take) works with almost every vehicle: 버스를 타요, 비행기를 타요, 자전거를 타요. To get off, use 내리다, with the place marked by 에서: 지하철에서 내려요. To transfer, use 갈아타다 with 으로/로 for the new vehicle: 지하철로 갈아타요 (I transfer to the subway).

Verb RR Meaning
타요 tayo ride; take
내려요 naeryeoyo get off
갈아타요 garatayo transfer

Walking is different. You do not "ride" your feet, so say 걸어서 가요 (I go on foot). The transportation lesson has the full set of travel verbs.

Page 3: Hotel and Airport Sentences

Page 3 gives a word bank of eight words and eight sentences that you could say at a hotel desk or an airport. Each sentence has one blank. A short writing task at the end asks where you are going.

Sentence RR of the full sentence Meaning
___ 여기 있어요. yeogwon yeogi isseoyo Here is my passport.
___했어요. yeyakaesseoyo I made a reservation.
___이 무거워요. jimi mugeowoyo My luggage is heavy.
___은 몇 시예요? chekeuineun myeot siyeyo What time is check-in?
___에 택시로 가요. gonghange taeksiro gayo I go to the airport by taxi.
___ 좀 주세요. yeolsoe jom juseyo Please give me the key.
화장실이 ___ 있어요? hwajangsiri eodie isseoyo Where is the restroom?
비행기는 몇 시에 ___? bihaenggineun myeot sie dochakaeyo What time does the plane arrive?

Two sentences end with a verb that shows a sound change in RR. 예약했어요 is said [예야캐써요], because ㄱ and ㅎ join to make a ㅋ sound, and RR writes it as yeyakaesseoyo. 도착해요 is said [도차캐요] in the same way, and RR writes dochakaeyo. The spelling stays the same in Hangul.

The hotel sentences come from the hotel vocabulary lesson, and the airport sentences from the airport vocabulary lesson.

The Answer Key

The key is a separate last page. It lists the name for each of the ten buildings, the letter for each vehicle, the verb for each blank on page 2, and the word for each blank on page 3. The sentence you write yourself in the last task is a personal answer, so it is not in the key.

How Do I Use This Sheet?

Plan 30 to 40 minutes, or split the sheet over two days: page 1 first, then pages 2 and 3.

  1. Label your own town. After page 1, sketch your street or neighbourhood and label five places in Korean. Checkpoint: you can name five places near where you live.
  2. Use a real map. Open a map app set to Korean, for example for Seoul, and find three of the ten page 1 places. Korean maps use these words on their labels.
  3. Say each place with 에 가요. Say "은행에 가요" and "병원에 가요" aloud. The pattern works for every place on page 1.
  4. Match the vehicle to the verb in your head. Before you choose 타요 or 내려요 on page 2, picture yourself getting on or off.
  5. Check the key, then drill. Rewrite wrong items, then review them with the korean city vocabulary flashcards and the transportation flashcards.

Page 3 is practice for real trips. Say each sentence as if you were standing at the counter, and write it only after you have said it twice.

How Do I Check the Town Map?

The key shows the same map with every building named, so you can compare it with yours. If two places look alike to you, such as the hospital and the pharmacy, use the English clue beside the building, not the shape alone.

Print at 100 percent scale in black and white, on A4 or US Letter, with 12 mm margins that leave room for a hole punch. Turn off fit-to-page, because scaling shrinks the writing boxes. The map is drawn in simple lines so it stays clear in black and white. A pencil lets you correct a label without smudging the page.

Mistakes to Watch For

  • Mixing 병원 and 약국. A 병원 is a hospital or clinic where a doctor sees you. A 약국 is a pharmacy where you buy medicine.
  • Using the wrong transport verb. Ride vehicles with 타다, get off with 내리다 and transfer with 갈아타다. Do not use 타다 for walking.
  • Forgetting the place marker. Say 지하철에서 내려요 (I get off the subway), with 에서 for where an action happens.
  • Pronouncing 약국 as written. It is said [약꾹], with a tense ㄱ after the final ㄱ. RR does not show that tensing, so the romanization yakguk looks plainer than the sound.

Most mix-ups on this sheet are between similar places, so use the clue next to each building.

What This Worksheet Does Not Cover

The sheet covers ten places, eight vehicles, three transport verbs and eight travel sentences. It does not cover directions, such as 오른쪽 and 왼쪽, road signs or the metro line numbers. For directions, use the korean places vocabulary hub. The sheet is hand practice, so it does not teach how to ask a stranger for help.

What Should I Practice Next?

After the sheet, read the travel vocabulary lesson and drill the travel vocabulary flashcards. Find other sheets in the Korean vocabulary worksheets collection, and continue with the Korean school vocabulary worksheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Places Are on the Town Map?

Ten: 은행, 병원, 약국, 우체국, 편의점, 도서관, 공원, 시장, 카페 and 학교. They are the places a beginner meets first in a Korean neighbourhood. The word bank at the top of the page lists them all.

Is a Map Included?

Yes. Page 1 is a simple drawn town map with ten numbered buildings along two streets. You label each building from a word bank. It is not a real map of a Korean city, so it works for any learner.

Is It for Travel?

Partly. Page 3 uses hotel and airport sentences that you would use on a trip, and page 2 covers the vehicles you would take. Page 1 is about everyday town places that are useful at home or abroad.

Does the Worksheet Teach Directions?

No. It teaches the place names and transport verbs, not left, right, straight or the way to ask for a route. Learn directions with the places hub, then come back to this sheet to practise the nouns.

Is Audio Linked?

The printed PDF has no audio. This page has play buttons for five model items, and the city and transport flashcards decks have a clip for every card.

May I Use These Worksheets in Class?
