Which Korean Printables Should I Start With?

Start with the Hangul table PDF if you are new to the alphabet, and with the blank practice grid if you already know the letters and want to write. These two files give you the quickest path from "I can recognise the letters" to "I can write them neatly". Four starting points cover most learners:
- You have not learned Hangul yet. Print the hangul table pdf and pin it up. It lists all 40 letters with names and romanization on one page.
- You know the letters and want to write them. Print the blank hangul practice grid. Its cross-line boxes teach block shape and position.
- You can write blocks and want sentences. Print the korean handwriting practice sheet, which moves from wide lines to plain paper.
- You are learning vocabulary. Print the korean vocabulary list template and use it with the flashcards template.
If you want letter-by-letter tracing instead of blank paper, the korean consonants writing practice sheet and the korean vowels writing practice sheet cover the 10 basic consonants and the 10 basic vowels.
All Korean Printables on This Site

The collection has nine printables, grouped here by purpose: writing, vocabulary, and charts. Each description says what the file contains and what it is for.
Writing Printables
Blank Hangul Practice Grid. One page of 123 square boxes with a dashed cross in each, in three sizes: 12 large (30 mm), 27 medium (20 mm) and 84 small (13 mm). The cross shows where the consonant, vowel and final consonant of a block belong. Level A0, with a one-page answer key.
Korean Handwriting Practice Sheet. One page of ruled lines in three styles: wide lines, two-line bands and plain strips, with four model sentences to copy. It teaches even block height and word spacing. Level A0, with a one-page answer key.
Korean Manuscript Paper Printable (원고지). A 20 by 10 grid of 200 boxes, the layout Korean schools use for writing practice, with dotted models and a usage key. It teaches one character per box and where spaces and punctuation go. Level A1.
Blank Hangul Syllable Block Template. Thirty-six frames with numbered zones for the initial, vowel and final, in vertical, horizontal and mixed vowel layouts. It teaches why a block is built the way it is. Level A0.
Vocabulary Printables
Korean Vocabulary List Template. A blank notebook page with columns for Hangul, romanization, meaning, an example sentence and review dates, with room for 25 words. Level A1.
Korean Printable Flashcards Template. Two pages with eight cut-out cards each: fronts for the Hangul and backs for the meaning, with the backs mirrored for double-sided printing. Level A0.
Chart Printables
Hangul Table PDF. A one-page chart of 19 consonants, 21 vowels and a 140-block syllable matrix with names and Revised Romanization, plus a cover-and-recall sheet. Level A0.

The next question is the order in which to use them.
What Is the Best Order for the Sheets?

Use the chart first, the writing sheets second, and the vocabulary and keyboard sheets last. This order follows the order of the lessons: letters, then blocks, then words. A workable order is:
- Hangul table PDF, pinned up from day one.
- Blank syllable block template, once you have seen your first blocks. Read korean syllable blocks alongside it.
- Blank practice grid, to practise the same blocks at three sizes. The lesson how to write korean explains the basics.
- Handwriting practice sheet, for sentences.
- Manuscript paper, once you know the spacing rule.
- Vocabulary list, printable flashcards, keyboard layout and numbers chart, whenever you need them.
Do not try to print all nine at once. One new sheet a week is enough, because each one repeats what the earlier one taught.
How Do These Printables Work with the Rest of the Site?

The printables are the paper side of the site's lessons. Each writing sheet is tied to a lesson, a flashcard deck and a quiz that practise the same items on screen. For example, the consonant tracing sheet pairs with the basic korean consonants flashcards. For a wider choice of sheets by topic, see the hangul worksheets collection, and for the whole section see korean worksheets.
These pages do not teach grammar or vocabulary lists. They are layouts for practice, and they depend on the lessons for explanation. Use them as a frame for your own handwriting and notes. Taken together, the korean printables give you a paper kit for the first stage of Korean: letters, blocks, sentences and your first words.
What Print Settings Do the Printables Share?

All nine printables use the same print setup, so you can set it once and keep it. Choose A4 or US Letter to match your paper, set the scale to 100 percent, and turn off "fit to page". Shrinking a sheet changes the box sizes, and the writing boxes are designed for a pencil tip: a 30 mm box printed at 80 percent becomes 24 mm.
Margins are 12 mm on every side, so a hole punch will not cut into the content. Black and white is enough for every file. Where a sheet uses gray, such as the dashed cross in a writing box, the gray is light so a draft setting still prints it.
These files are original layouts made for this site, and no page is copied from a textbook or from another website. The Korean text on them is drafted with AI and was reviewed and signed off by Min-ji Park on 15 October 2026. Treat spellings and romanization as a study aid all the same, and compare them with a dictionary if you are unsure.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is 원고지?
원고지 (wongoji) is Korean manuscript paper: a grid of square boxes where each box holds one character. The standard sheet has 20 boxes across and 10 rows down, so it holds 200 characters. Korean schools use it to teach spacing and punctuation. The printable on this site has the standard grid and a short usage key.
Which grid size is best?
Start with the large 30 mm boxes on the blank practice grid, because they show every stroke and make position mistakes easy to see. Move to the 20 mm boxes when your blocks look steady, and finish with the 13 mm boxes, which are close to normal notebook handwriting. The sheet includes all three sizes.
Are printables free?
Free for personal and classroom use. Teachers may print copies for their students. No reselling or republishing online.
Can I edit them?
The files are PDFs, so they are meant to be printed and written on, not edited. You can print only the pages you need, or print them at 100 percent scale on A4 or US Letter. If you want a different layout, such as larger boxes, send the request through the contact page and it will be considered.
Do the printables include audio?
The PDFs cannot play sound, because paper has no audio. Each printable has its own page on this site with audio buttons for the Korean words it uses. Open that page on a phone or computer beside your printed sheet to hear the words as you write them.
May I use these worksheets in class?
Free for personal and classroom use. Teachers may print copies for their students. No reselling or republishing online.
